PTA Launches Nationwide Monitoring Drive Amid Complaints Over Poor Mobile and Internet Services

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has stepped up efforts to address complaints about poor mobile and internet services across the country, inspecting 115 telecom sites in a week as part of a nationwide field monitoring survey.
According to the PTA, network performance and service quality at mobile operators’ sites were assessed in various cities from September 30 to October 7, 2026.
The authority’s data showed that the highest number of inspections, 39, were conducted in Lahore, followed by 17 sites in Karachi and 16 in Sukkur. Meanwhile, 14 sites each were inspected in Multan and Rawalpindi, eight in Quetta, four in Abbottabad and three in Gilgit.
During the field inspections, PTA teams evaluated overall mobile network performance and the quality of voice calls and data services. They also examined network coverage and backup arrangements to ensure service continuity during power outages.
The teams investigated complaints involving failed call connections, dropped calls and slow mobile internet speeds to identify service-related problems on the ground.
The PTA said consumer complaints were also reviewed to identify factors affecting mobile service quality. Technical deficiencies in mobile sites and towers were identified during the inspections, following which the relevant mobile operators were directed to take corrective measures to resolve the issues.
The authority added that efforts were also underway to coordinate with local administrations, elected representatives and relevant communities to address mobile service problems in affected areas.
According to the PTA, noticeable improvements in mobile service quality have been observed in several areas where telecom sites were inspected, while monitoring of operators’ performance continues.
The authority reaffirmed that it was maintaining continuous oversight of telecom operators to improve the quality and availability of mobile services.
The initiative aims to ensure the provision of better and more reliable telecommunications services and address consumer complaints related to mobile calls and internet connectivity.
