Pakistan Can Play Key Mediatory Role, Says Ambassador in US

Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has said that the world increasingly believes Pakistan has the capability to facilitate agreements and ensure their effective implementation.
Speaking to Geo News, the ambassador stated that this perception is not only based on Pakistan’s diplomatic position but also reflects its strategic and defence capabilities.
He emphasized that Pakistan has no interest in interfering in the internal affairs of any country and is instead focused on helping create “result-oriented” diplomatic outcomes. Sheikh added that Pakistan has historically played an important role in the Middle East and will continue to do so in the future.
The ambassador further said that Pakistan is working to build trust with multiple global and regional powers, including the United States, China, Russia, Iran, Gulf states, Turkey, Egypt, and the European Union, in order to contribute to mediation efforts.
Referring to bilateral relations, Sheikh said Pakistan–US ties, spanning over eight decades, are a historical reality marked by ups and downs and even difficult phases. However, he noted that the resilience of the relationship is evident in how both countries have consistently overcome challenges affecting their cooperation.
