NADRA clarifies pension payments will not stop over missing September certificate

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that it will not stop pension payments solely because a pensioner’s Proof of Life certificate was not issued in September.

As per a report, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shahab Ali said the government has not decided to suspend pensions because the certificate could not be issued within the specified period.

However, NADRA is working with relevant institutions to facilitate the issuance of Proof of Life certificates and simplify the verification process, particularly for elderly pensioners.

Moreover, the clarification applies to retired armed forces personnel and pensioners of federal and provincial government departments. Retired employees of institutions that have not yet completed arrangements with NADRA for the service will also not have their pensions stopped on this basis.

The officials said the initiative aims to simplify pension-related procedures and reduce the need for elderly citizens to make repeated visits to government offices.
