Khawaja Asif Claims KP CM Called Protest to Save Chair, Get Rid of Gandapur
ISLAMABAD – Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has called for a protest on September 27 to save his own chair and rid himself of Ali Amin Gandapur.
In an interview with Geo News, Asif said the federal government faced no threat, adding that the protest calls were internal matters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“Thankfully, there is no danger to the federation. These calls and commotion belong to PTI. In PTI, every individual is fighting for their own survival or interests,” Asif remarked.
The Defence Minister said PTI had only a few political figures while the rest were involved in violence and chaos. “They are enough for each other. We don’t need to say anything,” he added.
Asif said the KP Chief Minister called for the protest to protect his position and to get rid of Gandapur. “The call for the September 27 protest is their internal conflict. This protest is not against us,” he maintained.
He further said he would not respond to whatever remarks were made by PTI leader Sherjeel Memon, stating he would not give him any reaction.
The statement from the Defence Minister comes as PTI has announced plans for a long march and protest in Islamabad on September 27, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expected to lead the demonstration. The protest call has been met with resistance from various quarters, and the Islamabad High Court is also set to hear a petition against the planned demonstration on September 10.
