Enemies of Humanity Have Turned Balochistan Into a Battlefield, Government Limited to Statements: JI
Quetta — Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan amir and MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has said anti-human elements have turned the entire province into a battlefield, while the government remains confined to announcements and reassurances instead of practical action.
Addressing a meeting of provincial office-bearers at the JI secretariat, he said unrest, terrorism, target killings, loot, arson and highway closures had left people fearful and distressed. Security institutions, he claimed, were not taking effective steps on the ground.
The meeting was attended by provincial general secretary Murtaza Khan Kakar, Engineer Abdul Majeed Badini, Zahid Akhtar Baloch, Maulana Abdul Kabir Shakir, Maulana Muhammad Arif Dumar, Hafiz Noor Ali, Abdul Majeed Sarbazi, Tayyab Farid Khan, Sultan Muhammad Mehnati, Abdul Wali Khan Shakir, Roohullah Salar and others.
A review of the recent sit-in and the shutter-down strike of 3 September was presented, and traders, shopkeepers and citizens were thanked for their support. The meeting strongly condemned a press conference by the Anjuman-e-Tajiran Rahim Kakar group and what JI called false allegations against the party.
Hidayat-ur-Rehman said peace was the foremost need of Balochistan’s people, but insecurity had affected every home. He demanded that the government immediately secure highways, open borders for legal trade and end extortion on petroleum products.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami would expand its protest campaign against oppression, coercion, lawlessness and unrest. Sit-ins and protest camps would be set up at the divisional level, and a peaceful struggle for public peace, livelihoods and basic rights would continue.
