Lt Gen (Retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi Confirms Former General Met Imran Khan

RAWALPINDI: Former Defence Secretary and Lieutenant General (retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi has confirmed reports that a retired military officer recently met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, saying the reports are authentic and that the meeting did take place.
Speaking to anchorperson Asma Chaudhry, Lt Gen (retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi clarified that he was not the retired general who met Imran Khan.
“I want to make it absolutely clear that I am not the person who met Imran Khan, but reports of a meeting between him and a retired general are certainly not baseless. The meeting did take place,” he said.
Lodhi said it was incorrect to identify him as the retired officer who had met the PTI founder, adding that the actual occurrence of the meeting could not be denied.

He said he could not disclose the name of the retired general at this stage.
According to Lodhi, the name should remain confidential until all relevant matters are fully settled. He added that prayers and efforts were involved in the matter, including the reported backchannel contacts.
“I cannot reveal the retired general’s name at the moment. Until all matters are fully settled, it is appropriate to keep the name confidential,” he said.
Lodhi maintained that the reported meeting had genuinely taken place, while stopping short of identifying the retired officer involved.
