Providing Healthcare Is Balochistan Government’s Top Priority, Says CM Sarfraz Bugti
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources to provide basic and quality healthcare facilities to the people, with the health of mothers, girls and children among its top priorities.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Essential Package of Health Services Balochistan in Quetta, the chief minister said practical measures were being taken to improve the health sector and bring medical facilities closer to people, particularly those living in remote and underdeveloped areas.
Bugti termed the performance of the Health Department satisfactory, saying all tasks assigned to the department had been completed with dedication, hard work and responsibility. He added that the provincial government was committed to fulfilling its commitments made with all its partners.
The chief minister said 164 Basic Health Units (BHUs) have been made functional across the province to provide basic medical services to people in remote and underserved areas. Ensuring access to public healthcare facilities remains a key component of the government’s policy, he added.
Bugti also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Bari to make a hospital functional in a remote area of Dera Bugti, saying it demonstrated that basic facilities could be provided to the public through determination and hard work despite limited resources.
He said a child was born for the first time at the hospital and was named Bakht Muhammad.
The chief minister said his stance on law and order was often criticized, but he was not concerned about such criticism. He stressed that the government’s objective was not to waste time but to address public issues through practical measures.
“Every child in Balochistan has the right to basic facilities, and the government considers it its responsibility to provide them,” Bugti said.
He added that the Health Department would remain on the frontline of efforts aimed at bringing positive and sustainable change to Balochistan. The government would further expand existing initiatives to provide better, quality and accessible healthcare facilities and bring lasting improvements to the health sector.
Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar also addressed the ceremony and highlighted ongoing government initiatives and the performance of the Health Department.
CM’s Adviser on Women Development Department Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, senior Health Department officials and other relevant personalities also attended the event.
