Rising Theft, Robbery and Targeted Killings in Quetta Alarming, Says JUI

QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta chapter has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, saying residents are being forced to live in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

The concerns were raised during an important meeting of the JUI Quetta District Executive Committee, chaired by District Emir Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq at the party’s district office on Angle Road.

Various committees formed to review organizational visits and the performance of subordinate tehsils and units presented detailed reports during the meeting. The participants reviewed organizational performance, discipline, activity levels of office-bearers and other matters concerning the party’s subordinate structures.

The meeting expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in Balochistan, particularly in Quetta. Participants described the increasing incidents of theft, robbery, street crime, attacks on citizens and continued cases of targeted killing as alarming.

The JUI demanded that the government and relevant law-enforcement agencies take serious and practical measures to protect the lives and property of citizens and adopt an immediate and effective strategy to restore law and order.

The meeting also decided that a session of the district general council would be held on October 8 (Thursday) at Jamia Matla-ul-Uloom.

Addressing the meeting, Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, Senior Vice Emir Maulana Khursheed Ahmed, Patron-in-Chief Maulana Mufti Muhammad Rozi Khan, Haji Bashir Ahmed Kakar and other party leaders stressed the importance of organizational discipline, a sense of responsibility and full compliance with directives issued by the party’s higher leadership.

The speakers said a strong, active and well-organized structure was essential for effectively carrying out organizational responsibilities. They urged office-bearers to consider their responsibilities a trust and perform their duties with seriousness, punctuality and a strong sense of responsibility.

Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq warned that negligence, carelessness or a lack of seriousness regarding party discipline would not be tolerated. He said strict adherence to organizational principles and instructions from the higher leadership was essential for strengthening subordinate tehsils and units.

The meeting resolved that disciplinary action would be taken, in accordance with party rules and regulations, against those who repeatedly failed to perform their organizational responsibilities, with no concessions to be given.

The participants urged all tehsils, units and office-bearers to strengthen coordination, hold regular organizational meetings, focus on the training and guidance of workers, and utilize their capabilities to make party activities more organized and effective.

A large number of district executive committee members and party office-bearers attended the meeting.
