PTI Assures It Will Not Politicize Imran Khan’s Health, Says Sohail Afridi
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has assured that it will not politicize the health of former prime minister and party founder Imran Khan, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi demanding that the party, Khan’s family and his doctors be allowed to meet him.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Afridi said the party only wanted reassurance about Imran Khan’s health and demanded access to him.
“We want reassurance about Imran Khan’s health. Let us meet him. His family, doctors and the party will not politicize this matter; we guarantee it,” Afridi said.
He warned that if anything happened to Imran Khan, the responsibility would lie with the Army Chief, the prime minister and the Chief Justice.

Afridi said Imran Khan had been completely fit and healthy when he was arrested, alleging that his health had deteriorated during his incarceration. He held those responsible for his custody accountable for his current condition.
Protests Planned Over Access to Imran Khan
The KP chief minister said PTI’s call for a September 27 long march remained unchanged, but the party was taking protest measures before the march to secure a meeting with Imran Khan and address concerns over his health.

He said all PTI parliamentarians would gather outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday and stage a sit-in. The party would demand that the Chief Justice issue a decision regarding Imran Khan’s health and allow his family and personal doctors to meet him and conduct a medical examination.
Afridi said all parliamentarians would also visit Adiala Jail on Thursday and attempt to meet Imran Khan. If permission was denied, they would stage a sit-in outside the jail.
He warned that if Imran Khan was still not allowed to meet his family, doctors or party representatives despite the planned protests, the party would expand its protest campaign nationwide at 10pm on Thursday, calling for major intersections in every city to be turned into “D-Chowks.”
Afridi said the decision had been taken after consulting the party’s leadership and allied parties, adding that the September 27 long march had not been postponed or cancelled.
He maintained that the purpose of the current protests was to address concerns over Imran Khan’s health, ensure proper treatment and secure legal and medical access to him.
The KP chief minister also urged the courts to deliver decisions in accordance with the requirements of justice, questioning the future of the country and its judicial system if judges were to act at the behest of others.
