Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Voices Concern Over Deteriorating Security, Pins Hopes on Upcoming Jirga

Pishin: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed serious concern over the worsening law and order situation in Balochistan, while stating that it has high expectations from the jirga announced by the party’s chairman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, to discuss the challenges facing the Pashtun community.

The remarks were made during party conferences held in the Bostan and Karezat Khanozai tehsils of Pishin district under the chairmanship of District Secretary Umar Khan Tareen. Newly elected office-bearers for both tehsil organizations took the oath of office, while senior party leaders addressed the gatherings.

Party leaders said public security has become one of the most pressing concerns, alleging that the current government has failed to protect the lives and property of citizens. They said the proposed three-day jirga would bring together representatives from different schools of thought to discuss solutions to the challenges facing the Pashtun people and determine a future course of action through consensus.

The speakers claimed that the law and order situation in Pishin and surrounding areas has deteriorated significantly, alleging that highway insecurity, robberies, killings, kidnappings, and extortion have created an atmosphere of fear despite the presence of security checkpoints.

They also criticized what they described as poor governance, alleging that damaged infrastructure and deteriorating roads in Pishin have caused serious difficulties for residents. The party further claimed that electricity poles and transmission lines are being removed from several rural areas, leaving communities without power, while prolonged power outages and declining groundwater levels are worsening living conditions and affecting agriculture.

PkMAP leaders also alleged that thousands of residents have been affected by the blocking of national identity cards without sufficient justification. They claimed that nearly 96,000 identity cards in the district have been blocked, creating difficulties for families in accessing essential services and carrying out everyday affairs. The party urged the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to restore blocked identity cards and simplify the issuance process in accordance with its procedures.

The party leaders congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and urged them to strengthen the party’s organizational structure and actively fulfill their responsibilities.
