Audit Uncovers Rs63 Billion Financial Irregularities in Pakistan Post

Islamabad:** A government audit has uncovered financial irregularities exceeding **Rs63 billion** in the accounts of the **Pakistan Post Department**, exposing major discrepancies in the management of public funds.
According to the latest audit findings for **fiscal year 2024–25**, the postal sector operating under the **Ministry of Communications** recorded financial irregularities amounting to more than **Rs63 billion**.
The **Audit Report 2025–26** states that the largest portion of the discrepancies relates to the **unauthorized management of bank accounts**. Five separate cases involving commercial bank accounts account for **more than Rs42 billion** in questioned transactions.
The report also identified **12 additional cases** of major financial discrepancies under various categories, involving a combined amount of **over Rs20 billion**.
In addition, auditors pointed to **two cases of outstanding and unrecovered receivables** valued at **more than Rs1 billion**, highlighting concerns over the recovery and management of public funds.
The audit report recommends corrective measures and further scrutiny to address the identified financial irregularities and strengthen financial oversight within the Pakistan Post Department.
