Hanna Urak Protest Enters Third Day as Families Refuse Burials; Lawyers’ Strike Disrupts Court Proceedings in Quetta

Quetta: Protests over the Hanna Urak tragedy intensified on Tuesday as the sit-in by the families of the victims entered its third consecutive day, with relatives continuing to refuse to bury the deceased until their demands are met.
The protesters said that despite three days having passed since the incident, no government representative had approached them for negotiations, leaving the affected families frustrated and deeply concerned.
The families demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack, calling for them to be brought before the courts. They also urged the authorities to ensure justice for the victims’ families and take effective measures to restore peace and security in the area.
The protesters maintained that the sit-in, demonstrations, and refusal to bury the victims would continue until their demands are accepted.
Meanwhile, lawyers across Quetta observed a complete strike on the appeal of the Quetta Bar Association to protest the Hanna Urak incident as well as the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan.
The strike severely disrupted judicial proceedings in the city’s courts, with hearings in most cases unable to take place.
Lawyers’ representatives said the worsening security situation and the recent tragedy had created a deep sense of insecurity among the public, prompting the legal community to stage the protest.
They called on the government to take immediate and effective measures to combat terrorism, restore law and order, protect the lives and property of citizens, and ensure that justice is delivered to the victims of the Hanna Urak incident without delay.
The ongoing demonstrations and the lawyers’ strike also affected normal life in Quetta, while various quarters urged the government to take swift and practical steps to address the security situation.
