Rana Sanaullah Says PTI Boycott Will Not Affect AJK Elections

ISLAMABAD:Pakistani government adviser Rana Sanaullah has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycott of the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir will have no impact on the electoral process.
Speaking on a television program, Sanaullah said the elections would be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and the law, adding that a large number of candidates are contesting across the territory.
He claimed that every constituency has a double-digit number of candidates and argued that those calling for a boycott have failed to field enough candidates for the polls.
Sanaullah also said that boycotting elections strengthens the position of those who oppose the democratic process, describing PTI’s decision as inappropriate.
Referring to comments attributed to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sanaullah said Bilawal is the head of an allied political party and deserves respect. He added that reports quoting him about winning only 12 seats were inaccurate, saying his party aims to win all **44 seats**.
The adviser further urged PTI not to align itself with elements that, according to him, seek to disrupt law and order in Azad Kashmir. He also claimed that public support for the banned Joint Action Committee has been declining.
Commenting on the judiciary, Sanaullah said the government cannot issue directions to the Chief Justice regarding media coverage of judicial events, adding that decisions on what is broadcast remain at the discretion of the event’s host.
The remarks reflect Rana Sanaullah’s views and come amid ongoing political debate over the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
