Protests Disrupt Traffic and Daily Life in Sindh as Tensions Escalate Over Water Dispute

Karachi: Over 50,000 cargo vehicles have been stranded for the past 11 days due to ongoing protests at the Baburlo Bypass, causing severe financial losses for goods transporters. The protests have intensified, prompting transporters to announce demonstrations outside the Chief Minister’s House and Governor’s House today.**

In addition to the Baburlo Bypass protests, violent clashes were reported in the Gulshan Hadeed area, where demonstrators threw stones at police officers and set a police vehicle on fire. While the police attempted to disperse the protesters, tensions remain high in the region.

Despite Prime Minister’s earlier statement that no new canals will be constructed from the Indus River without a consensus, protests in Sindh have not ceased. Tensions flared at Baburlo Bypass as police tried to disperse the protesters, turning the area into a battlefield.

In the Moro tehsil of Naushahro Feroze, police used baton charges to break up the demonstrations. The widespread unrest has severely disrupted daily life, with residents unable to travel and many too afraid to leave their homes.

The ongoing protests, centered around the issue of water distribution and the construction of new canals, continue to affect both public life and economic activities in Sindh. The situation remains tense as authorities struggle to restore order.
