Aleem Khan Vows Major Development in Azad Kashmir, Promises Motorways, Airport and Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Islamabad: Abdul Aleem Khan, President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), has pledged major infrastructure development in Azad Kashmir if his party forms the government, promising new motorways, an airport, tourism projects, and strict action against corruption.
Speaking at a ceremony welcoming former Azad Kashmir prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and his associates into the IPP, Aleem Khan said the party would work to transform the region through improved infrastructure and economic development.
“If Allah grants us the opportunity to form the government in Azad Kashmir, we will deliver outstanding development projects,” he said.
Aleem Khan announced plans to construct motorways linking Azad Kashmir with the national road network, build an airport, and promote tourism by improving infrastructure. He also pledged that decisions concerning Azad Kashmir would be made within the region.
Addressing corruption, the IPP chief said he would adopt a zero-tolerance approach if his party came to power.
“If corruption occurs in Azad Kashmir, I will take responsibility,” he said, adding that any minister found involved in corruption would be removed from office.
Aleem Khan criticized parties that have previously governed Azad Kashmir, saying they had failed to fulfill their promises and that the public should hold them accountable.
He also highlighted his work as Pakistan’s federal communications minister, saying the revenue of the National Highway Authority had increased significantly during his tenure. He pledged to continue expanding the country’s road infrastructure, including projects linking Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Lahore, Sialkot, Kharian, and Muzaffarabad.
The IPP leader further promised employment opportunities for young people, improved educational facilities, and greater investment in tourism, describing Azad Kashmir as “Pakistan’s Switzerland” and emphasizing that modern infrastructure is essential to unlocking its economic potential.
The remarks were made during a political event marking the induction of new leaders into the IPP ahead of future political activities in Azad Kashmir.
