JUI-F Claims Deteriorating Security in Quetta, Urges Immediate Action to Restore Law and Order

Quetta: The district leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Quetta has expressed serious concern over the worsening law and order situation in the provincial capital, alleging that rising violence, armed robberies, and insecurity have left citizens fearing for their lives and property.
In a joint statement, JUI-F Quetta district leaders, including district chief Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, Secretary General Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice President Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Information Secretary Abdul Ghani Shahzad, Abdul Samad Haqyar, Mufti Muhammad Abu Bakr, Digital Media Coordinator Abdul Bari Shahzad, Maulana Jamaluddin Haqqani, Mufti Rashid Ahmed Haqqani, and Haji Atta Muhammad Shamshozai, said the security situation in Quetta had deteriorated significantly.
The party leaders pointed to what they described as increasing incidents of armed robbery in areas including Hazarganji, Sariab, and Qambrani, as well as growing insecurity on major highways. They claimed that citizens’ lives, property, and safety were no longer adequately protected.
Referring to the killing of businessman Hashim Khan Noorzai in Quetta’s Red Zone and reports of armed groups operating in the Hanna Urak area, the JUI-F leaders alleged that these incidents reflected a weakening of the government’s writ and a continuing decline in public security.
The statement criticized the federal and provincial governments, alleging that authorities were relying on public statements and symbolic activities rather than taking effective measures to improve security. The party said assurances alone were insufficient for families affected by terrorism and violent crime.
JUI-F called on both the federal and Balochistan governments to set aside political considerations and take immediate and effective steps to restore the state’s authority, improve security on highways, in commercial centers, and across urban areas, and ensure the protection of citizens.
The party said the people of Balochistan were looking for tangible improvements in peace, justice, and governance rather than promises, adding that JUI-F Quetta district would continue to monitor the situation and oppose any actions it believes are against the interests of the public.
The statement reflects the position of JUI-F leaders. Government authorities had not publicly responded to these remarks at the time of reporting.
