India’s Attempt to Destabilize Peace in Azad Kashmir Has Failed, Says Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that India’s attempt to disrupt peace in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has failed.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament House on Friday, Asif said that certain elements operating in Kashmir were acting under India’s influence and were ignoring the sacrifices made by the people of Azad Kashmir.
He said that oppression and human rights violations continue in Indian-administered Kashmir, where political leaders have spent years in prison. According to the minister, the people of Kashmir have a long history of sacrifices in their struggle for their rights.
Khawaja Asif stressed that any group whose links to anti-Pakistan activities lead back to India should be confronted decisively. He called for a united national response against terrorism.
Referring to the recent tragic incident in Bannu, the defence minister expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and said the time had come for a decisive campaign against terrorism to eliminate the threat once and for all.
He further alleged that India and Afghanistan were behind terrorist activities in Pakistan. He claimed that following last year’s setbacks, Afghanistan had joined hands with India to promote terrorism on Pakistani soil.
The minister emphasized that Pakistan must wage a decisive struggle against terrorism and ensure lasting peace across all provinces of the country.
