Budget-Based Relief Will Lead to Prosperity Era, Claims Ata Tarar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar has claimed that the federal budget is based on relief measures and that Pakistan is entering an era of prosperity.

Speaking during the National Assembly budget session, Tarar said there is no tax imposed on low-income individuals in the budget and added that the government has accommodated demands from all segments of society.

He stated that macroeconomic stability had now been achieved and urged acknowledgment of the improvement in the country’s economic conditions. “We will build such an economy that the whole world will witness,” he said.

The minister added that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) assumed power during challenging economic circumstances. He recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to “saving the state even at the cost of politics,” and said that without entering the IMF programme, economic stability and relief would not have been possible.

Ata Tarar further said that fluctuations in exchange rates in the past were highly unstable, comparing them to a rapidly spinning fan, and claimed that the business community had been under severe pressure at that time.

Reiterating his stance, he said the budget provides relief to the poor and introduces no tax for individuals earning up to Rs50,000 monthly, while those earning between Rs50,000 and Rs100,000 will be subject to a one percent tax.

He also said that Pakistan’s global image is improving and that the country is receiving international recognition. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts toward peace, stating that the “green passport is now respected” and that Pakistan is on the path of development.

It is worth noting that the federal budget for the next financial year 2026–27, amounting to Rs18,771 billion, was recently presented in the National Assembly.
