Trump Urges Restraint After Iranian Missile Attack on Israel, Calls for Return to Diplomacy

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for restraint following Iran’s reported missile attack on Israel, urging both sides to avoid further escalation and return to diplomatic negotiations.

Speaking to journalist Barak Ravid, Trump said he would advise Iran that it had made its point and should refrain from further military action. “You launched your missiles; that’s enough,” he said, expressing hope that Israel would not respond with additional strikes.

Trump stated that the U.S. military remains on alert and urged Iran to return to the negotiating table and finalize an agreement. He also said he was unhappy with Israel’s attack on Beirut and planned to speak directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I am going to call Netanyahu and tell him not to retaliate,” Trump said. He warned that any Israeli counterattack could prolong a cycle of conflict that has continued for decades.

The U.S. president added that Washington and Tehran had been close to reaching a final agreement and that the latest developments could jeopardize diplomatic progress.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military claimed that Iran had fired missiles toward Israeli territory and said its air defense systems were working to intercept the incoming projectiles.

Following the missile attack, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described the strike as a warning and cautioned that any further Israeli military action would be met with a broader response.

In a statement, the IRGC said it had targeted Israel’s Ramat David Air Base using ballistic missiles launched by its Aerospace Force. The group also claimed that previous ceasefire understandings had been conditioned on a halt to hostilities across all fronts and accused the United States and Israel of failing to uphold their commitments.

The IRGC further warned Israel to halt attacks on Lebanon, saying that continued military operations could lead to more severe consequences and that American and Israeli targets in the region could come under attack.

Iranian officials had earlier warned of retaliation following Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
