Terror Attack in Ziarat Raises Questions Over State Authority: Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party

QUETTA (Qudrat News) – The Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party has strongly condemned the recent terrorist incident in the Mangi Dam area of Ziarat district, calling it a clear reflection of deteriorating law and order and the failure of state institutions.

In a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, it said that armed militants set five trucks and two tractors on fire, destroyed property worth millions of rupees, and abducted drivers Masood Khan, Ashraf Khan, Javed Khan, and Shin Gul Khan, taking them to an unknown location.

The statement termed the incident deeply tragic and inhumane, adding that it raises serious questions about the effectiveness of government authority and security arrangements in the province.

According to the party, despite the presence of multiple security checkpoints near the incident site, the attackers managed to carry out the operation and escape easily, highlighting serious shortcomings in the security system.

It further stated that while citizens are burdened with checkpoints and roadblocks, there is little visible progress in curbing terrorism. The party also questioned the effectiveness of modern surveillance systems, including drone monitoring and intelligence networks, in preventing such incidents.

The statement added that the entire region from Ziarat Cross to Chappar Rift and up to Harnai has become a hotspot of insecurity, kidnapping for ransom, and lawlessness, severely affecting transporters, laborers, and the general public.

The party demanded the immediate and safe recovery of the abducted drivers, decisive action against terrorists and their facilitators, and full security of the Ziarat–Harnai highway.

It warned that if the government fails to take serious and practical measures, public anger will continue to grow, for which the authorities will be held responsible.
