Rising Diesel Costs Force Suspension of 8 Passenger Trains in Pakistan

Lahore – Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended eight passenger train services due to a sharp increase in diesel prices, which has significantly raised operational costs.

According to railway sources, the rise in petroleum product prices has severely affected train operations, making it difficult to maintain regular services. As a result, the administration has decided to halt multiple train operations across different routes to reduce fuel expenses.

Officials also stated that low passenger turnout on some routes contributed to the decision, as maintaining these services had become economically unfeasible under current fuel prices.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways confirmed that the suspended trains include Mehran Express, Chaman Express, Marvi Express, and Ravi Express. Other services affected are Samma Satta (Saman Sarkar), Mohenjo Daro, Bolan Mail, and Khushhal Khan Khattak Express.

The spokesperson added that the suspension is temporary and services will be restored once operational conditions improve and financial constraints ease.
