Global Oil Prices Drop Sharply as US Crude Becomes Cheaper

Islamabad (Kudrat News) — Global oil prices witnessed a significant decline following optimistic statements by US President Donald Trump regarding negotiations with Iran.

According to international media reports, Brent crude oil fell by more than five percent, dropping to nearly $105 per barrel, while US crude oil also recorded a notable decrease.

Earlier in the day, Brent crude had already declined by 88 cents, bringing it to $110.40 per barrel. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped by 67 cents to $103.48 per barrel.

President Trump, while speaking to journalists on Wednesday, stated that talks with Iran are in their “final stages” and expressed hope that a deal could be reached soon.

Following his remarks, investor sentiment improved temporarily, easing pressure on global oil prices.

However, concerns remain over the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, disruptions in Middle East oil supply routes, and ongoing uncertainty surrounding Iran, all of which continue to pose major risks to global energy markets.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that limited movement of some vessels through the Strait of Hormuz also contributed to temporary market relief.

International financial institutions have warned that if negotiations between Iran and the United States fail or regional tensions escalate again, oil prices could surge back to between $120 and $200 per barrel.

It is worth noting that global oil markets have experienced sharp volatility this year due to the ongoing Iran-related conflict involving the United States and Israel. Earlier, Brent crude had surged beyond $126 per barrel.
