Mahmood Khan Achakzai Calls for Justice for Imran Khan, Restoration of Democratic Rights in National Assembly Speech

Quetta + Islamabad (Kudrat News) — Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman, Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan leader, and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said that although there are serious differences between the government and the opposition, such differences are sometimes set aside in the national interest.
Speaking in the National Assembly session, he said that the opposition had earlier boycotted proceedings but attended the session in respect of the visiting Chinese delegation and the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship.
He said that Pakistan and China share a deep and historic relationship which is highly valued by the people. He added that China is playing a positive diplomatic role in the region, which is supported by him.
Achakzai demanded that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be provided justice, proper medical facilities, and that restrictions on his meetings be lifted.
He said that thousands of people, including citizens from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, are facing cases and FIRs simply for speaking in favor of democracy, fundamental rights, and parliamentary supremacy.
He announced that the opposition would not participate in the budget session and would not allow parliamentary proceedings to continue until justice is ensured for Imran Khan and other political detainees.
Later, speaking to the media outside Parliament, he said that Parliament has been reduced to a weak institution and that the practice of buying and selling loyalties continues in the country.
He said that there is no example in world history where an elected political leader remains in jail and is denied meetings.
He emphasized that despite political differences, attending the Chinese delegation’s reception was in the national interest, adding that Pakistan-China friendship is “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the sea.”
He reiterated that he will continue raising his voice for democracy, justice, and constitutional supremacy on every forum.
