Enforced Disappearances Are Balochistan’s Biggest Humanitarian Issue, Says Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch

Quetta (Kudrat News) — Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief and Member of Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has said that the enforced disappearance of people outside the framework of the Constitution and law is the biggest humanitarian issue in Balochistan, destroying entire families.

Addressing meetings and delegations in Quetta, he said that when a person goes missing, their family spends years searching for justice, while in some cases mutilated bodies of missing persons are later found, which is deeply tragic.

He stated that attempts to resolve issues through force and military operations instead of courts, law, and dialogue have failed. He added that affected families are often unable to speak openly due to fear and pressure.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch said there is growing concern in political and public circles over how long young people will continue to disappear and families will continue wandering in search of justice.

He stressed that political leadership, state institutions, and relevant authorities must ensure transparent investigations, produce missing persons before courts, and end human rights violations.

He said silence and the use of force cannot solve the issue, adding that justice, law, the Constitution, and accountability are the foundations of lasting peace. Referring to Article 10 of the Constitution of Pakistan, he said every detained person must be presented before a court within 24 hours.

He further said that if anyone is accused of a crime, they should be brought before a court, and if innocent, they should be released. “Making people disappear and remaining silent is not justice, it is oppression,” he remarked.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader said when the state, judiciary, and politics remain silent, a mother’s question becomes abandoned and unanswered.

He maintained that enforced disappearances are not the issue of a single political party but a failure of the state, judiciary, and parliament. Jamaat-e-Islami and the families of missing persons demand that all missing individuals either be presented before courts immediately or released, and that independent investigations into extrajudicial actions be conducted.

He added that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue raising its voice on every platform for the safe recovery of missing persons.
