18 Militants Killed in Clash Between Rival Groups in Central Kurram

Islamabad: At least 18 militants were killed in a violent clash between two rival armed groups in Central Kurram, reportedly over an extortion dispute.
According to reports, the exchange of heavy gunfire took place late last night in the Manato area within the jurisdiction of Chinarak Police Station in Central Kurram. The clash occurred between the Kazim group and the Mumtaz Amti group, both associated with outlawed militant factions.
Reports stated that 18 members of the Mumtaz Amti group were killed during the fighting, while three militants were reported missing.
Sources also claimed that one member of the Kazim group was killed and another went missing during the armed confrontation. Graves are reportedly being prepared in the Manato area for the deceased militants.
Such armed clashes between rival militant factions have occurred multiple times in the past, highlighting internal disputes and conflicts over influence and financial interests.
Local residents said that the ongoing infighting among militant groups has severely disrupted the lives of ordinary citizens in the area.
Security analysts believe the clashes demonstrate that these groups are driven more by personal interests, power struggles, and financial gains than by ideological motives. They added that local communities continue to place trust in state institutions conducting operations against militant elements.
