Bilawal Bhutto Vows to Complete Five-Year Public Welfare Agenda With CM Sarfraz Bugti

QUETTA: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the party will work together with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to complete a five-year public welfare agenda focused on healthcare, development, and support for underprivileged communities.

Addressing a ceremony at the Chief Minister Secretariat in Quetta during the inauguration of completed health sector projects, Bilawal Bhutto said public-friendly politics and service to marginalized people remain the core manifesto of the PPP.

He praised the provincial government for launching several welfare and healthcare initiatives in Balochistan, stating that the activation of 64 Basic Health Units (BHUs) was a “revolutionary step” aimed at strengthening the province’s primary healthcare system.

“Primary healthcare is the backbone of any medical system,” Bilawal Bhutto said, adding that access to quality healthcare is the right of every citizen regardless of financial status.

He said the introduction of air ambulance services was essential for geographically vast Balochistan, particularly for remote areas lacking proper road access and medical infrastructure. According to him, the service will help transport critically ill patients from distant regions to major hospitals in Quetta and Karachi.

Bilawal Bhutto also inaugurated a modern trauma center equipped with ICU and HDU facilities, describing it as Balochistan’s first fully digital paperless public hospital where free treatment would be provided.

The PPP chairman said that after the formation of the provincial government, he had advised Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti to implement successful governance and healthcare models from Sindh in Balochistan. He noted that within two years, the provincial administration had delivered development work beyond expectations.

He revealed that a total of 20 projects were planned for inauguration, of which 11 were launched during the current visit, while the remaining nine projects would be inaugurated after Eid and the Gilgit-Baltistan election campaign.

Bilawal Bhutto further praised collaboration with ChildLife Foundation to improve child healthcare services and reduce child mortality in Balochistan. He recalled that Sindh, especially Tharparkar, once faced similar health challenges but achieved improvement through sustained reforms and public welfare measures.

He emphasized that strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was essential for the stability and progress of the entire country.

The PPP chairman also said that anti-state and anti-development narratives could only be defeated through public service, performance, and completion of development projects.

“We will defeat all forces that want to keep Balochistan and Pakistan underdeveloped,” Bilawal Bhutto stated, adding that sincere efforts for public welfare would ultimately ensure success.
