“Balochistan’s Minerals are a Shared Asset of the Province, Not Personal Property: Mir Asad Baloch”

Quetta: During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Asad Baloch, the leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Awami) and a member of the Provincial Assembly, voiced concerns regarding the province’s mineral resources. He emphasized that Balochistan’s minerals are not the personal property of any individual but rather a shared asset of the province.
He expressed his discontent over the fact that most of Balochistan’s mineral resources have been handed over to the federal government, which he claimed was an injustice to the province. He specifically pointed out that the control of Mines and Minerals, now held by the federal government, was a violation of Balochistan’s rights.
Mir Asad Baloch further stated that under the 18th Amendment, provinces were granted autonomy, yet the Mines and Minerals Bill was undermining this autonomy by stripping Balochistan of its rightful resources. He asserted that Balochistan’s significance lies in its rich mineral wealth, as otherwise, the land would be barren.
