Corruption Crackdown in KP: 49 Officials Under Inquiry, 19 Suspended, 17 Dismissed, Says Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR – Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has announced a sweeping crackdown on corruption, stating that all routes of corruption in the province have been effectively blocked.

Addressing developments in governance reforms, the chief minister said strict and indiscriminate action is being taken against corrupt practices without any exception.

He revealed that around 49 officials are currently facing inquiries on corruption charges, while 19 have been suspended from service. In addition, 17 officials have been dismissed after serious allegations were proven. He added that more than 150 cases are at different stages of investigation.

Sohail Afridi said that the posting and transfer system has now been brought directly under the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to ensure transparency and eliminate favoritism and nepotism.

He further warned that anyone attempting to pressure or threaten officials would face strict legal action.

The chief minister also announced that dedicated complaint numbers will soon be issued for citizens to report corruption. He added that individuals providing verified evidence of corruption may also be rewarded as part of efforts to eliminate the menace from society.
