Nawaz Sharif Backs Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Amid Growing Rift with PPP

Lahore: Amid escalating tensions between the **Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)** and the **Punjab government**, **PML-N President Nawaz Sharif** has expressed his **full support for Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz**.

According to media reports, **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif** met Nawaz Sharif at **Jati Umra, Lahore**, two days ago to discuss the **emerging political friction** at the provincial level.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reportedly suggested that if **Maryam Nawaz** adopted a softer tone in her statements, the **PPP** might also **avoid confrontation**.

However, Nawaz Sharif firmly **backed his daughter’s stance**, saying that **Maryam’s recent remarks were a response to unnecessary criticism** from the PPP and that she had **spoken on behalf of the people of Punjab**.

Following Nawaz Sharif’s comments, **Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon** held a **strongly worded press conference**, once again criticizing **Maryam Nawaz**, further intensifying the **political standoff** between the two allied parties.
