Singapore Enforces Strict Law: Heavy Fine for Picking Fallen Mangoes from Public Trees

Singapore: An unusual but strict law in Singapore has drawn attention after reports claimed that picking mangoes from public trees or collecting fallen fruit from the ground can result in a heavy fine.
According to international media reports, an Indian-origin digital creator, Priyanka Sinha, shared a video on social media showing mango trees along a roadside and fruits fallen on the ground. She explained that in Singapore, removing fruits from trees in public spaces or picking fallen mangoes is considered illegal because such trees are government property.
She further stated that anyone found taking fruit from public trees or collecting fallen mangoes may face a fine of up to 5,000 Singapore dollars, which is equivalent to approximately 1 million Pakistani rupees.
Sinha highlighted that Singapore maintains strict regulations to protect public property and urban greenery, and such rules are strictly enforced to prevent misuse of government-owned resources.
