Rabies Vaccine Shortage at Usta Muhammad Hospital Puts Patients’ Lives at Risk

Usta Muhammad (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The shortage of anti-rabies vaccine at the Tehsil Headquarters Civil Hospital in Usta Muhammad has put the lives of poor patients at serious risk, according to local residents.
Citizens have complained that due to the unavailability of the vaccine at the government hospital, victims of dog bites are being forced to purchase expensive injections from private medical stores, which are beyond the financial reach of low-income families.
Residents further reported a continuous increase in dog bite incidents in the area, while the absence of this essential medical facility at the public hospital has raised serious questions about the performance of the health administration.
Public circles have also expressed strong anger over the behavior of the hospital storekeeper, accusing him of mistreating patients and their attendants, which adds further distress to already vulnerable individuals.
Citizens have appealed to the Chief Secretary of Balochistan, the Provincial Health Minister, and the district administration to immediately ensure the supply of anti-rabies vaccine to the hospital and take strict departmental action against staff members involved in misconduct, in order to provide better healthcare facilities to the public.
