Human Trafficking Network Busted in Bihar; Girls Allegedly Sold for ₹300,000

Patna: Indian police in the Nalanda district of Bihar have dismantled a major inter-state human trafficking network involved in the abduction and sale of minor girls, arresting four individuals, including two women.
According to Indian media reports, the arrested suspects include two men and two women from Bihar and Rajasthan. During the operation, police successfully rescued three minor girls, preventing their alleged sale.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal stated that the operation was launched following a complaint on April 10 regarding the disappearance of two minor cousins from the Rahui police station area. A special police team tracked the victims using technical surveillance and discovered that they had been moved to Bikaner in Rajasthan, where they were safely recovered.
Investigations revealed that the trafficking gang targeted poor and underage girls by luring them with promises of a better life and financial support. The victims were allegedly manipulated and later sold for large sums of money.
Police further disclosed that a married couple involved in the network confessed to purchasing the girls for around ₹300,000 under the guise of marriage. Another female member of the gang admitted to selling several girls for amounts ranging between ₹100,000 and ₹150,000 each.
Raids were also conducted in Rajgir and Manpur, leading to additional arrests linked to the network. Another girl from Chhattisgarh was also rescued during the operation.
The recovered minors have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee after legal procedures, while police continue raids to apprehend remaining members of the trafficking ring.
