Balochistan Govt Distances Itself from Former Notification on Ex-Chief Secretary’s Additional Benefits

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has clarified that it does not endorse a notification issued during the previous administration regarding post-retirement additional benefits for the former Chief Secretary.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Shahid Rind, stated that the notification was issued by the former government and the current administration does not agree with it in principle.
He added that the appeal against the Balochistan High Court decision was also filed by the previous government, while the current government neither defended the notification nor supported any appeal at any stage.
Shahid Rind emphasized that the government’s position on the matter has remained clear and consistent from the beginning. He said that every single penny of public funds is a trust of the people and must only be spent on public welfare.
He further noted that federal civil services have a defined financial structure for benefits, and similarly, Balochistan also follows a regulated and approved schedule for allowances and entitlements.
The special assistant stressed that the provincial government does not support the controversial notification or any additional benefits granted under it. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to financial discipline and transparency.
He concluded that the government will prioritize public interest and avoid any measures that place an unnecessary burden on the national exchequer, ensuring that resources are strictly used for public welfare and development projects.
