Balochistan Health Department Issues Final Notices to 40 Doctors Over Dual Employment

Quetta: The Balochistan Health Department has issued final notices to 40 doctors accused of holding dual employment, as part of a crackdown on administrative irregularities within the department.
According to sources, the doctors have been asked to submit explanations within a specified timeframe. Authorities have warned that failure to respond or providing unsatisfactory explanations could result in strict departmental action, including dismissal from service.
Official notices reveal that among the 40 doctors, seven are permanent employees while 33 are serving on contract. Records indicate that these individuals had been issued repeated notices over the past four to five months, but most failed to respond, prompting the department to issue final warnings.
Sources said the department had received complaints that some doctors were simultaneously working in other government institutions, private hospitals, or departments while holding government positions—an act that violates service rules and the code of conduct.
Officials noted that such practices not only disrupt healthcare services in public hospitals but also create difficulties for patients relying on government facilities.
A senior health official stated that holding two jobs simultaneously is strictly prohibited for government employees, especially in critical sectors like healthcare. He added that failure to comply with the notices could lead to termination and further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan government has decided to expand the investigation by scrutinizing records of employees across various departments. Data has reportedly been sought from NADRA, the Passport Office, and the Interior Department to verify employee records and identify potential irregularities.
Sources added that after completing the initial review, authorities will take action against all employees found violating rules. Government officials said the move aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and discipline within public institutions and ensure proper use of state resources.
The development has raised concerns within the health department and other government institutions, with observers noting that if pursued effectively, the initiative could mark a significant step toward improving accountability in the public sector.
