Deadlock Over Appointment of Opposition Leader Resolved; Government Agrees to Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s Nomination

**Islamabad:** The long-standing deadlock over the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has been resolved, with the government agreeing to allow the nomination of **Mahmood Khan Achakzai** for the position, according to a private TV channel.
Sources told **ARY News** that after the government’s approval, **National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq** has initiated the formal process for the appointment. The speaker has also held consultations with ruling coalition parties in this regard.
According to the sources, independent members backed by **Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)** had formally submitted Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s name for the post of opposition leader. With consensus now reached on his nomination, the deadlock has ended.
Sources further stated that there will be no further delay in the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition, and the process is expected to be completed soon, after which an official notification will be issued.
