One Day Left in JUI Deadline: Balochistan Govt Delegation Meets Maulana Wasey; Deadlock on Madrassa Registration Persists

Quetta: With just one day remaining before the deadline set by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), a delegation of the Balochistan government held talks with opposition leaders led by Maulana Abdul Wasey to address the ongoing deadlock over madrassa registration.
The government delegation was headed by Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove and included Provincial Ministers Mir Ali Madad Jattak and Mir Barkat Rind, among others. On the opposition side, the meeting was attended by JUI’s provincial chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey, Opposition Leader in the Balochistan Assembly Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, PAC Chairman Asghar Tareen, MPA Syed Zafar Agha, and MNA Usman Badini.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on madrassa registration as well as the broader political situation in the province. Despite continued differences, the two sides agreed to keep the dialogue process ongoing.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that religious seminaries are strong institutions of Islam, producing scholars and حافظ (memorizers of the Quran), and have historically played a role in uniting the Muslim Ummah.
He added that Balochistan is a bouquet of diverse nations and religions, and described Maulana Abdul Wasey as a wise and respected political figure.
Provincial Minister Mir Ali Madad Jattak emphasized the need to understand the government’s position on madrassa registration, adding that the government has always prioritized consultation with all political and religious stakeholders. He said the government delegation’s visit to opposition leaders reflects its seriousness in resolving the issue through dialogue.
