Balochistan Enters New Era of Investment with Rs. 5 Billion Shrimp Farming Project in Hub

Quetta:Chief Minister Balochistan **Mir Sarfraz Bugti** announced that the province has stepped into a **new era of investment** with the launch of a landmark **Rs. 5 billion shrimp farming project** in Hub’s Dam area under the **Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model**.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, he said the project is a **historic milestone** in the province’s journey toward development and prosperity. A **Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)** was signed between the **Balochistan Investment Board, Department of Fisheries, and a consortium comprising House of Kasib, Dhabeji Aqua Food, and Al-Karam Textile Group**.

Under the agreement, a modern **aquaculture-based shrimp farm** will be established in Dam, which is expected to revolutionize the fisheries sector, boost exports, and create **thousands of job opportunities for youth**.

“Balochistan is rich in natural resources and opportunities, and the provincial government is committed to providing maximum facilitation to investors,” CM Bugti said. He stressed that the government is working to make the province a **peaceful, secure, and investor-friendly hub**, encouraging both local and foreign investment.

Highlighting sectors such as **fisheries, agriculture, and mining** as having golden opportunities, the CM said the government is working with development partners to accelerate progress in these areas.

He congratulated **Bilal Khan Kakar**, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment & Trade, and his team for this achievement, calling the shrimp farming initiative “a new hope for the people of Balochistan.”

“This project will not only give new direction and momentum to the provincial economy but also enable Balochistan to play a key role in Pakistan’s export-driven economy. It marks the beginning of a new chapter of growth and prosperity, with lasting impacts for future generations,” Bugti added.

The event was attended by provincial ministers, the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Bilal Kakar, and senior officials.
