Sindh Development Budget Utilization Stands at Only 35% in First Nine Months of Fiscal Year

Sindh: The provincial development budget utilization has remained significantly low, with only 35 percent of the allocated funds spent during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
According to official figures, Rs 520 billion had been allocated for 3,642 development projects in Sindh. However, the spending so far indicates slow progress in development expenditure.
During the same period, out of Rs 2.211 trillion allocated for non-development expenditures, only Rs 1.238 trillion has been utilized. The province now has to spend Rs 973 billion in the remaining three months of the fiscal year.
Under pension expenditures, Rs 236 billion have been spent out of the total Rs 271 billion allocated.
For maintenance of roads, transport, buildings, and canals, Rs 2.63 billion have been spent against an allocation of Rs 5.711 billion.
Meanwhile, Rs 127.19 billion has been utilized out of Rs 242 billion allocated for salaries, utilities such as gas and electricity, and other day-to-day government expenses.
On office supplies and procurement, Rs 11.57 billion has been spent out of Rs 40.52 billion earmarked for the category.
Officials say the remaining months will be crucial in determining whether the province meets its financial and development targets for the year.
