Turkish Land Forces Commander Meets Pakistan Military Leadership, Agrees to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he held important meetings with Pakistan’s top military leadership, including Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour upon the Turkish commander’s arrival at GHQ.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of professional interest, regional security, and various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, appreciating the strong defence partnership between the armed forces of the two countries.

The two sides also reviewed opportunities to further enhance military cooperation and strengthen institutional linkages.

Later, General Tokel visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The meeting focused on professional matters and maritime security in the region.

He also called on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, where discussions were held on defence collaboration and other professional engagements.

The ISPR said the Turkish commander praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and their role in promoting regional peace and stability.

He reaffirmed the commitment of both brotherly nations to further expand defence cooperation and institutional relations.
