Iranian Foreign Minister Meets Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad

Islamabad: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held an important meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his official visit to Islamabad, according to a statement issued by the Iranian Embassy.
The embassy stated that this was the Iranian foreign minister’s first formal engagement after arriving in Pakistan. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional developments, and bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation and enhance coordination on issues related to regional peace and stability. According to diplomatic sources, the meeting was also attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, National Security Adviser General Asim Malik, and the Director General of Military Intelligence.
Senior Iranian officials including Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam, and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei were also present during the discussions.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry clarified that there is no possibility of any Iran–US meeting taking place in Pakistan. In a social media statement, spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said he is accompanying Foreign Minister Araghchi on an official visit to Islamabad, where meetings with senior Pakistani officials are scheduled.
He further added that discussions will include Pakistan’s ongoing mediation efforts and broader regional issues. According to the spokesperson, talks will also focus on restoring peace in the region and addressing concerns related to what he described as ongoing aggressive actions by the United States.
