Dangerous Pitch Forces Abandonment of West Indies Championship Match After Player Injury

A West Indies Championship match between Leeward Islands and Trinidad & Tobago at the Vivian Richards Stadium was abandoned due to unsafe pitch conditions.
Play was halted during the third day’s opening session after the pitch began producing uneven and unpredictable bounce, raising serious safety concerns for the players.
During the match, Leeward Islands batter Jeremiaah Louis was struck heavily by a delivery from Jaden Seales. He received immediate medical attention on the field before being taken to hospital for further evaluation. A concussion test was conducted, and officials later confirmed that his condition had stabilized and he was recovering.
Following the incident and ongoing concerns over player safety, match officials decided to call off the game entirely.
Cricket West Indies stated that corrective measures will be taken to ensure the pitch is properly prepared before any future matches are held at the venue, emphasizing player safety as the top priority.
