Severe Decline in Education System in Kech District Raises Concerns Over Teacher Qualification and Fake Degrees

Turbat: The education system in Kech district is facing a serious decline, with alarming revelations emerging about the qualifications and credibility of teachers, raising widespread concern among local communities.
According to public circles, serious questions have been raised over the competence of teachers appointed under the SBK and contract-based recruitment system. Residents claim that in several schools, teachers lack even the basic ability to educate children effectively.
They further stated that although the primary and middle school curriculum in Balochistan has been shifted to English medium, most of the appointed teachers have little to no command over the English language. This mismatch between curriculum requirements and teacher capability is severely affecting students’ academic performance and future prospects.
In addition, shocking allegations of corruption have surfaced, with claims that some contract teachers possess questionable or even fake academic degrees. Locals allege that in several cases, individuals obtained degrees through proxy examinations, raising serious doubts over transparency in the education system.
It has also been reported that in many schools, officially appointed teachers are frequently absent, while unauthorized substitute staff are taking classes in their place—an illegal practice that is said to be damaging the future of students.
Parents, citizens, and civil society members have expressed deep concern over what they describe as administrative negligence and silence from the authorities. They have urged the Balochistan government and the Education Department to immediately review the qualifications of teachers in Kech district, take strict legal action against fake degrees and proxy arrangements, and implement urgent reforms to improve the quality of education.
