Javeria Saud Responds Strongly to Tabish Hashmi, Sparks Debate Over TV Ratings and Ramadan Shows

Lahore: A fresh controversy has erupted in Pakistan’s entertainment industry after television host Tabish Hashmi made remarks about ratings and content quality, prompting a sharp response from actress and host Javeria Saud.

Tabish Hashmi, known for his satirical style, recently commented during an interview on viral clips from morning shows and Ramadan transmissions. He suggested that some of these clips appear more like memes and questioned their quality. He also criticized the alleged use of fake calls to boost ratings, stating that such practices are inappropriate, especially when hosts are already well-compensated.

His remarks were perceived by some as indirect criticism of certain TV personalities, including Javeria Saud, who has previously faced similar allegations regarding her Ramadan transmissions.

Responding on social media, Javeria Saud did not hold back. She criticized Hashmi’s style, saying he spends the entire year using double-meaning humor to gain ratings and cannot tolerate others receiving higher viewership, even for a short period.

“Let others work for a month—you have the whole year,” she remarked, hinting that the criticism may be driven by competition rather than concern for quality.

The exchange has triggered mixed reactions online. Some users supported Tabish Hashmi’s stance, raising concerns about declining content standards in television programming. Others backed Javeria Saud, calling the criticism unnecessary and personal.

The controversy has reignited debate over the race for ratings in the entertainment industry and whether viral content has overtaken quality as the primary measure of success, particularly during Ramadan transmissions.
