Balochistan Government’s Inefficiency Has Become a Curse for People: Nasrullah Zarey and Isa Roshan

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Leaders of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP), provincial president Nasrullah Khan Zarey and central information secretary Isa Roshan, have strongly criticized the provincial and federal governments, alleging severe mismanagement, insecurity, and economic hardship in Balochistan.
Addressing a large protest demonstration outside the Quetta Press Club, the leaders said that the situation of law and order in the province has completely deteriorated, while government inefficiency and negligence have turned into a “punishment for the people.”
They demanded an immediate rollback of recent increases in petroleum prices, an end to gas pressure shortages and unannounced electricity load-shedding, and reduction in government and security expenditures to ease the tax burden on citizens. They also called for urgent action to improve security and stop the rising wave of targeted killings in the province.
The leaders further demanded the release of all political prisoners, including Ali Wazir, and an end to harassment of Afghan refugees, urging that they be granted citizenship under the Citizenship Act of 1951.
They announced a major student-led rally scheduled for April 19 in Quetta under the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization to highlight the issue of children out of school across the province.
The protest also included criticism of rising inflation, unemployment, and shortages of gas and electricity, which speakers said have made life unbearable for laborers, salaried workers, students, and the middle class.
The leaders claimed that over 3 million children in Balochistan are currently out of school, according to UNICEF reports, blaming the government for failing to take effective measures in the education sector.
They also condemned alleged forced closures and government control attempts over literary and cultural academies, calling it an attack on intellectual freedom.
The protest concluded with a warning that if public issues remain unresolved, the movement would be expanded across the province, and a stronger phase of public resistance would be launched against inflation, injustice, and governance failures.
