Zardari Reaffirms Commitment to Peace in Balochistan, Vows to Defeat Foreign-Backed Militancy

President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure peace and development in Balochistan, emphasizing that efforts are underway at full pace to counter militancy allegedly backed by foreign elements.
The remarks came during a meeting with members of parliament from Balochistan in Islamabad, where participants discussed the overall political situation in Pakistan—particularly in the province—as well as ongoing development projects.
President Zardari stressed that the state remains committed to thwarting the designs of terrorist groups and ensuring stability across the country. He added that maintaining peace in Balochistan is a top priority and that development initiatives will continue alongside security measures.
The meeting was attended by several key political figures, including Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Bilal Mandokhail, Hasna Bano, Jam Muhammad Umar Gorgij, and Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, among others.
Notably, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti was not present at the meeting, although no official reason for his absence was provided.
Participants also included a wide range of lawmakers and party members from different districts of Balochistan, reflecting ongoing consultations within the Pakistan Peoples Party regarding governance, security, and development priorities in the province.
