Pakistan to Continue Efforts for US-Iran Talks, PM Tells Saudi Crown Prince

JEDDAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue its efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran, aiming to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
In a statement posted on social media platform X after a lengthy meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the prime minister said the two leaders held detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest and the evolving regional situation.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and praised the kingdom’s leadership for its wisdom, restraint, and patience during challenging times.
He also briefed the crown prince on Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as recent developments regarding historic peace talks held in Islamabad.
The prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to continuing efforts for a sustainable peace agreement between Washington and Tehran, in order to ensure long-term regional stability. He also expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s support of Pakistan’s peace initiatives.
According to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting in Jeddah lasted nearly two hours, during which both leaders exchanged views on emerging regional challenges.
The statement added that the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia amid ongoing regional tensions and commended the kingdom’s measured response.
The Saudi crown prince, in turn, appreciated the constructive role played by Prime Minister Sharif and Syed Asim Munir in advancing peace efforts.
Both sides also agreed to further strengthen cooperation in defense and security, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing their longstanding strategic partnership.
