China Enacts New Law to Counter Foreign Pressure and Protect National Interests

Beijing: Chinese Premier Li Qiang has signed a new law aimed at safeguarding China’s sovereignty, national security, and economic interests. The legislation has come into immediate effect.
According to Chinese state media, the new law consists of 20 articles and is designed to provide an effective response to external pressure and restrictive measures imposed by other countries.
Under the law, China will have the authority to take countermeasures if any country, institution, or entity takes actions that affect its economic interests, citizens, or organizations.
Authorities also stated that a special list will be created targeting foreign individuals, companies, and organizations involved in actions deemed harmful to China. These entities could face a range of sanctions and retaliatory measures under the new framework.
Analysts say the legislation reflects China’s broader policy approach amid rising global tensions, trade disputes, and diplomatic pressure, aimed at firmly protecting its national interests.
Observers also suggest the law could have wider implications for global politics and trade, particularly for countries that maintain economic or political disagreements with China.
