Balochistan High Court Nullifies Controversial Notifications, Restores Naseebullah Tareen as Tribunal Chairman

Quetta (News Desk) — The Balochistan High Court has issued a significant constitutional ruling in a petition (CP No. 444/2026) concerning the appointment of the Chairman of the Balochistan Services Tribunal.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Mullahkhail and Justice Muhammad Najamuddin Mengal heard the case and, after reviewing the record and legal arguments, accepted the petition.
In its verdict, the court declared several government notifications regarding the appointment of the tribunal chairman null and void, including Notification No. 22-180(13)/2012/SO-I(S&GAD) dated September 13, 2025, along with other related orders.
As a result, the court reinstated Naseebullah Tareen as the Chairman of the Balochistan Services Tribunal, in accordance with Notification No. S&GAD/S-IV/2(6)/2023/146-256 dated May 2, 2023.
The court further ruled that the appointment of Abdul Hadi Tareen is set aside, directing him to immediately relinquish charge of the office.
The bench instructed the Additional Advocate General to ensure implementation of the verdict. The case has been adjourned for further hearing until April 21, 2026.
The decision is being viewed as a major administrative and legal development in the province’s judicial affairs.
