Joint Committee Agreed to Resolve Muslim Bagh Chromite Allocation Dispute: CM Balochistan Meets JUI-F Delegation

Quetta: A high-level meeting between Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and a delegation of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam led by its provincial chief Maulana Abdul Wasay has agreed to form a joint committee to address the controversial chromite allocation issue in Muslim Bagh.
The dispute emerged after concerns were raised over the allocation of chromite resources to a non-local individual in Muslim Bagh, triggering strong reactions from local tribes who termed the decision against their rights and staged protests.
According to JUI-F statements, growing public pressure led the government to suspend the disputed allocation, describing it as unfair.
Following the development, tribal elders and political and social representatives from Muslim Bagh met the Chief Minister in Quetta to discuss issues related to local rights over natural resources, provincial autonomy, and protection of public interests.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti assured the delegation that both the government and JUI-F share a unified stance on protecting public interests. He emphasized that priority will be given to local communities regarding provincial resources and that no preference will be given to non-local individuals.
He announced the formation of a joint committee comprising government officials, tribal elders, and relevant stakeholders. The committee will review all aspects of the matter and propose recommendations to ensure fair distribution of resources, protection of local rights, and sustainable development.
JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Wasay thanked the Chief Minister and reaffirmed that his party will continue to raise its voice for public rights and support any initiative in the interest of the people of Balochistan.
He further stated that local communities must have the first right over natural resources in their respective areas, adding that no compromise will be made on this principle.
