Balochistan Police Determined to Eradicate Terrorism, Says IG at Police Martyrs’ Day Ceremony

QUETTA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Mohammad Tahir, has reaffirmed the police force’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism and maintaining peace in the province, paying tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs during a Police Martyrs’ Day ceremony held in Quetta.

Addressing the event, the IGP said that 1,195 police officers and personnel have laid down their lives in the line of duty for lasting peace and stability in Balochistan. He described the fallen officers as “unsung heroes” whose sacrifices have enabled citizens to live in peace and security.

“Peace and stability do not come without sacrifice,” he said, adding that the police remain determined to defeat those responsible for violence and terrorism. He emphasized that the force would continue its mission to eradicate terrorism and protect innocent lives.

The ceremony was attended by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau, IG Frontier Corps (North) Major General Atif Mujtaba, GOC 41 Division Major General Mumtaz Ali, Balochistan Assembly Speaker Captain (Retd.) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, provincial ministers, senior police officials, civil authorities, and families of martyred police personnel.

IGP Tahir said the Balochistan Police have remained steadfast in fulfilling their responsibilities despite operating under extremely challenging conditions. He noted that many officers and personnel had embraced martyrdom in the fight against terrorism, describing the campaign as a national struggle in which the country has suffered immense losses.

He said the police force possesses the resolve and capability to bring terrorists to justice and remains united in the fight against extremism. The IGP stressed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would never be forgotten and that the force would continue to uphold their legacy by protecting the public and confronting terrorist threats.

Paying tribute to several fallen officers, including Hamid Shakeel, Fayyaz Sunbal, Sajid Mohmand, and Mubarak Shah, he said their courage and dedication had brought honor to the nation and the police force.

The IGP also assured the families of martyred officers that their welfare would remain a top priority. He pledged continued support in matters relating to education, healthcare, employment, and financial assistance, saying the police stand firmly with the families of those who sacrificed their lives in service to the country.

Highlighting the broader security situation, Mohammad Tahir said both security forces and civilians have rendered extraordinary sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also paid tribute to police officers who lost their lives in suicide attacks and other terrorist incidents, noting that their bravery and professionalism would always be remembered.

The IGP concluded by saying that despite limited resources, Balochistan Police personnel have consistently confronted terrorists with courage and determination and will continue to safeguard peace across the province.
